Man From U.N.C.L.E – Pistol 7.63mm Automatic Lone Star 1965

                Diecast metal gun. Black or dark blue/grey with red plastic grip, fired caps. This came on a cardboard sheet with a cut out U.N.C.L.E. badge (Triangular) showing a number 11. The backing card had a large U.N.C.L.E. logo in the bottom right corner, with the badge and a photo of Solo above that. To the left is a photo of Illya on a yellow background.

                Probably one of the most essential items, in the toy line, for any show, is the hero’s weaponry, and U.N.C.L.E. was no exception. With many different weapons being released, in the main by Lone Star in England, and Ideal in the U.S.A. The 7.63 automatic by Lone Star was based on a 1934 7.65mm German Mauser. Although a Mauser was used in the early first season episodes, this was based on a different design of Mauser, which In the series  was soon to be replaced by a specially adapted Walther P38, due to reasons both technical and costwise. The Lone Star model was a fairly accurate replica, that could be bought either separately or in any one of several sets, with various attachments etc. The Mauser can also be found in two versions, one with attachment points for shoulder stock and gun sight, the other without these attachment points
